I have been wanting to start these “The Truth About…” posts to talk about hair or makeup related topics that I feel as though not many people have a good grasp on, and I would love your feedback as well, let me know what you want to know the truth about!

So there has been a really huge thing happening in the hair industry. Some of you may know a little bit about this new product, some of you may have no idea! So I am here to set the record straight and talk about Olaplex!!

The Truth About Olaplex

Olaplex is defined as “Insurance for your hair”. I cannot think of a more accurate description. Now to go off of this metaphor, think of it this way… You are about to buy a new car, spend a lot of money making it perfect, so now you want to have insurance on it so you know that your car will always be able to be fixed. But then, you have another car that already doesn’t work and won’t start, would you spend money to insure that one? Probably not. So, yes olaplex is basically a miracle worker, but if your hair is already badly damaged, that doesn’t mean it can take you from your bright red hair to blonde. A stylist won’t (or SHOULDN’T) push the integrity of your hair if it is already compromised, olaplex or no olaplex. A good compromise are the olaplex stand alone treatments to help mend some previous damage. It can definitely do that!

Olaplex is still really new to the market, which is why, as stylists, we are learning more and more about it as much as we can, but so far, so good!

Who is Olaplex For?

Literally, EVERYONE!! There is not one person that I wouldn’t recommend olaplex to. Everyone should be using it, it is honestly a huge innovation for the hair industry. The way it works is by multiplying bonds in your hair to help mend any damage within the hair strand. What that means is that olaplex will never over proteinase your hair like some deep conditioners have the ability to do when you over use them. They have tested olaplex on every type of hair and it is a success every time.

What Are The Steps?

You can use Olaplex as a tool or a new service. The choice is yours. As a tool, use the Olaplex Bond Multiplier No.1 adding it to lightener or color and finish by applying Bond Perfector No.2 after color is rinsed from the hair to dramatically reduce breakage with every color service.

We also include the professional Hair Perfector No.3 Take Home for our clients to use once a week to strengthen hair further or to use as a pre-treatment to a future chemical service. Hair Perfector No.3 Take Home has amazing additional benefits reported by hundreds of clients.

What Are The Long Term Effects?

Olaplex does not “build up” on your hair, there will be no problems trying to color or lighten over hair that has used olaplex. If anything, it will help the process to less damage to your hair. Also, the ingredients in olaplex help to link the broken bonds that cause damage in your hair, which makes for stronger and healthier hair.

So these are the few truths about Olaplex I wanted to share with readers. Hopefully this brings a great product into light for you and don’t hesitate to ask anymore questions you may have regarding olaplex or visit their website www.olaplex.com

Most of our stylists have jumped on board the olaplex train, but make sure you ask your stylist ahead of time if you are interested!
